Adversity is not without comforts, not without hopes, it can emerge as a blessing and a virtue like the precious odour of Indian spices most fragrant when crushed. It may have been the worst of times when the corona pandemic was ravaging and taking its toll, when lockdowns were unpredictable and when hotels and restaurants ceased to function. But it was the ideal time for three friends to bring into fruition a positive and virtuous idea that they discovered with fortitude born out of pain, to help a hapless community. They are two chefs with challenging dedication, armed with culinary skills par excellence and an avid gastronomer with unique taste buds and a nose for special flavours. Against the incredible odds of the covid crisis, it is their united enterprise that you can locate as Street Food, The Tava Shop, in the heart of Croydon, akin to those joints in the hawker centres found globally in busy cities. The finger licking varieties that the cuisinier and the connoisseur intend to serve are tossed and grilled, as captivating to sight as to taste.
